A 10 year old peated single malt from a Lowland distillery, released by William Grant & Sons as Aerstone Land Cask at 40% ABV. The name refers to its maturation in warehouses inland, in Ayrshire.
The malt was dried over Highland peat, and the smoke carries through into the spirit. The nose is earthy and smoky, with orange mustard, freshly grilled bacon and a little sweet vanilla. On the palate the peat mingles with ripe sweet fruit, oak and salted caramel. The finish is long, with sweet vanilla peat smoke and light oak.
