Aerstone Sea Cask is a 10 year old single malt from an unnamed Lowland distillery, released by William Grant & Sons and bottled at 40% ABV. It takes its name from its maturation: ten years in warehouses on the Ayrshire coast, where salty sea air worked its way through the cask wall into the whisky.
The nose offers creamy butterscotch, lemon-iced shortbread and malty heather honey, turning to cinnamon, nut and cocoa. The palate is floral, with orange-filled sweets, toasted almonds in puff pastry and baking spices, then earthy oak and a touch of sea salt. The finish is vanilla custard with lemon zest and sea salt.
