Amahagan Edition No. 5 Sherry Cask Finish (70cl, 47%)

This is the fifth edition of Amahagan World Malts, a blended malt finished in sherry casks. Nagahama Distillery, in Shiga prefecture on the northern shore of Lake Biwa, combines its own malt distillate with malt whiskies bought from abroad, and the blend matures in Nagahama. It is bottled at 47%, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. Ripe fruit and baked apple lead the nose, with brown sugar, dried citrus peel and a note of leather. The palate is smooth, with strawberry jam balancing sweetness and a slight tartness, then maple syrup and raisins over time. The finish is lasting and dry, with gentle cask spice.
