AMAHAGAN World Malt Edition No.3 Mizunara Wood Finish (70cl, 47%)

AMAHAGAN World Malt Edition No.3 is a Japanese blended malt from the Nagahama Distillery in Shiga, in a 70cl bottle at 47% ABV. It is the third release in the World Malt Edition series. The base is a blend of imported malt whiskies, with Nagahama's own malt added. After the first maturation it spends a second period in Mizunara casks, which bring oriental spice, sandalwood and incense, along with some creamy sweetness. The colour is pale amber. The nose is malt sweetness with orange and red apple, then spice, wood, caramel and a little smoke. The palate is baked orange, apple compote and chocolate chip cookies, with a dark chocolate bitterness. The finish is long, with malt sweetness and gentle smokiness.
