Ardbeg 17 Year Old was first released in 1997 and was one of the first bottles to leave the distillery after it reopened. It was retired in 2004 and has since returned.
Dr Bill Lumsden, Master Distiller, created this release to mirror the original, retracing its flavour profile note by note, and chose to bottle it at 40%, as it was originally.
It is described as balmy and medicinal, with minerality giving way to sweet smoke and malted barley, and a clear peaty presence with hints of tar and oak.
