Ardbeg – An Oa Warehouse Edition (70cl, 46.6%)

Ardbeg An Oa Warehouse Edition is an Islay single malt bottled at 46.6% in a 70cl bottle and not chill-filtered. The name refers to the Mull of Oa, the promontory that shelters the distillery from Atlantic storms. The whisky is a marriage of spirit from Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, bourbon casks and freshly charred oak casks. These come together in a large oak vessel known as the Gathering Vat, which brings smoke, sweetness and spice into one whisky. The packaging of this edition echoes the design of the warehouses. On the nose, campfire and savoury bacon sit with dark syrup, chocolate and toffee, joined by aniseed, orange and smoky tea leaves.
