This is Ardbeg Ten Years Old bottled at cask strength, 61.7% abv, an Islay single malt drawn from American oak bourbon barrels.
It follows the regular Ten, a whisky long favoured by the Ardbeg Committee, and was released in response to requests from its followers.
The peaty character is pronounced. The nose has rich smoke and sea spray, giving way to a smooth, natural sweetness.
