Ardnahoe – Bholsa (70cl, 50%)

Ardnahoe Bholsa is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle at 50% ABV. It is the second core release from the distillery and takes its name from the Bholsa sea cave on the island's Atlantic coast. It was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, which add richness and depth while the distillery's peat character stays in place. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose combines gentle peat smoke with orchard fruits, honey and vanilla fudge. The palate is rich and oily, with sweet malt, caramel, baked apples and raisins, and peat that builds gradually. The finish is long and gently smoky, with sweet oak, dried fruits and salted caramel.
