Ardnahoe – Bholsa (70cl, 50%)

Ardnahoe Bholsa is an Islay single malt, peated to 40ppm and bottled at 50% abv in a 70cl bottle. It is the second core release from the Ardnahoe distillery and takes its name from the Bholsa caves near the distillery. Most of the maturation took place in Oloroso sherry casks, which add rich notes of peat-smoked raisins soaked in Oloroso. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The nose offers red fruit, walnuts, orange peel and peat smoke. On the palate come raisins, dates and ripe plums beneath Islay peat, and the finish is long and peppery.
