Ardnahoe – Chairman's Selection 6 Year Old Heavily Peated Oloroso Cask (70cl, 60.2%)

This is a one-off limited edition from the Islay distillery Ardnahoe, chosen to the personal wishes of its founder and chairman, Stewart Laing, who has since died. It is the most heavily peated Ardnahoe released so far, and it uses heavily peated stocks that had not been released before. The whisky spent six years in a combination of first fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads, first fill PX quarter casks and bourbon casks, with sherry the dominant influence. It is bottled at 60.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The maturation brings an intense colour and fruity, sweet sherry notes alongside a balanced spiciness.
