Arran Barrel Reserve is an unpeated single malt from the Isle of Arran distillery, introduced in 2019 alongside a redesign of several of its bottles. It was matured for around seven years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks only.
It is bottled at 43% ABV, at natural colour and without chill-filtration, and it shows gold in the glass.
The nose is fresh, with citrus, green grass and malted biscuit, plus hints of vanilla and apple. The palate is soft, with vanilla, apple, malted barley, a light maritime note and honey. The finish is of medium length, with cinnamon spice, vanilla and caramel, and touches of oak and citrus.
