The first release in Arran's Smuggler's Series, an homage to illicit distilling on the Isle of Arran in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a single malt vatted from ex-bourbon casks and Port pipes, with both unpeated and heavily peated spirit in the mix. 8,700 bottles were produced at 56.4% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is creamy, with lemon zest and lime, subtle peat, a briny sea breeze, sweet butter, vanilla and apricot. The palate arrives spicy with chilli and ginger, fairly peaty, with canned peaches for sweetness. The finish is medium in length, with plenty of peat and a little citrus.
