The first of three lightly peated Arran single malts in The Devil's Punch Bowl series, released in 2012 at 52.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Only 6,660 bottles were filled, and the name comes from Coire na Ciche, a glacial hollow on Arran.
The whisky was drawn from 24 casks: sherry butts from 1996 and 1997, 1996 bourbon barrels, 1998 sherry hogsheads and peated 2006 bourbon barrels.
The nose has savoury wood spice, caramelised pears, biscuit, dried grass and tropical fruit. The palate adds more fruit, with vanilla, allspice and smoke. The finish is rich caramel with gentle phenols, blackcurrant and cinnamon.
