Auchentoshan – Three Wood Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (75cl, 43%)

Auchentoshan Three Wood is a Lowland single malt from the Auchentoshan Distillery in Glasgow, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The spirit is triple distilled, and it matures in three stages: first in ex-bourbon American oak, then in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, and finally in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The colour is a rich golden bronze. The bourbon casks contribute honeyed vanilla and orchard fruit, the Oloroso brings dried fig, raisin and walnut, and the Pedro Ximénez adds fig, date and dark chocolate sweetness. The nose combines blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange peel, plum and raisin with toffee and sherry. On the palate are dark fruit, hazelnut, cinnamon and treacle, ending in a long finish of treacle, toffee and dark chocolate.
