A joven mezcal from Oaxaca, made from 90% Espadín and 10% wild Barril agave. It is produced by a cooperative of more than 35 families in San Miguel Ejutla, using agave roasted in underground wood-fired pits, crushed with donkey-pulled tahonas, fermented in wooden tanks and distilled in small batches in copper alembic stills.
The blend gives Espadín's bright tropical fruit character with a subtle green, vegetal, earthy complexity from Barril. Tasting notes include roasted pineapple, herbaceous and floral aromas, ripe tropical fruit, a thread of light smoke and a subtle floral finish.
