Barrell Bourbon 12 Year is a blend of straight bourbons aged twelve years and older, sourced from distilleries in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Wyoming by Barrell Craft Spirits of Louisville. It is bottled at cask strength, 108.5 proof (54.25%), without chill filtration, in a run of about 1,500 bottles.
After ageing in new charred American oak, the whiskey was finished in French oak casks of varying toast levels. It is the company's first release focused on French oak.
The nose offers vanilla custard, seasoned oak, leather and caramel. The palate is rich and velvety, with toasted marshmallow, crème brûlée, clove and toffee, and the long finish carries baking spices, oak and brown sugar.
