Barrell Bourbon Batch 038 is a cask strength blend in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 58.48% ABV (116.96 proof). It combines bourbons from four states: Kentucky at 12 years old, Indiana at 9 and 10, Tennessee at 12 and 15, and Maryland at 8. The derived mash bill is 79% corn, 17% rye and 4% malted barley.
The nose opens with fruit punch and pineapple before aged wood, mint tea, dried hay and a forest floor character take over. The palate runs from oatmeal raisin cookie and sweet potato pie to Manuka honey, clove, black walnut and dark chocolate. The finish brings roasted nuts, melted butter and marzipan, with cigar box and red currant.
