Barrell Seagrass Rye Whiskey (75cl, 59.2%)

Barrell Seagrass is a cask strength rye whiskey from Barrell Craft Spirits of Louisville, Kentucky. It blends American and Canadian ryes, and its makers say it aims to evoke hot sun, brisk air, dry sand and oceanside vegetation. Each component is finished separately in Martinique rhum agricole barrels, Malmsey Madeira barrels or apricot brandy casks, then the casks are married into the final blend. This batch is bottled at 118.4 proof (59.2%). The nose shows honeydew melon, apricot, plum and pineapple, with salinity, tarragon and elderflower. The palate is sweet and juicy, with pear, lychee and white grapefruit, then cinnamon, rosemary, fennel and rosehip, over an oily, full body with a vanilla background.
