Basil Hayden Golden Rye is a small-batch Kentucky straight rye whiskey made at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The spice stays lively and is softened by a sweetness closer to bourbon, which gives a rye with a gentle edge.
On the nose there is light spice with vanilla, honey, caramel and soft oak. The palate brings toasted rye grain, brown sugar, vanilla and mild pepper, and the finish is clean and warming, with soft spice and a touch of oak sweetness.
