Basil Hayden's Dark Rye is a straight rye that blends American rye, Canadian rye and port.
The nose has gentle spice and sweet vanilla, with hints of browning apple, wet leaves and oxidised red wine, all fairly subdued. The palate starts simple and sweet, reminiscent of imitation maple syrup, with more sweet vanilla on a light body.
