Basil Hayden's Toast is a bourbon bottled at 80 proof, or 40% ABV. It uses a new mashbill in which brown rice takes the place of the traditional rye grain.
The brown rice adds a hint of sweetness and a little less spice. Depth of flavour comes from secondary ageing in a toasted, then flash-charred, oak barrel.
