Bastille 1789 is a blended malt whisky made by hand in France by Maison Daucourt, in a 750ml bottle. It is produced from barley and wheat grown in northeast France, with water filtered naturally through limestone.
It is aged in small batches in a mix of wood casks, including French Limousin oak. The casks are second-fill and previously held fine wines and spirits.
The colour is bright amber. The nose offers orange, marmalade, dried apricots, spiced cake and pineapple blossoms. The palate is very smooth, with vanilla, toffee, rich fruit and spice. The finish is peppery, with limestone.
