Belfour Small Batch is a wheated bourbon bottled at 50.25% in a 750ml bottle. It was drawn from 95 barrels in a one-time release, distilled under contract at Southern Distilling Company in Statesville, North Carolina.
Ed and Dayn Belfour designed the mashbill of 60% corn, 30% wheat and 10% malted barley, and travelled to the distillery for the blending, barrel selection and proofing.
The nose offers fresh caramel, wildflower honey and gardenia, with mulling spices beneath. The palate is soft and creamy, with caramel, milk chocolate, hazelnut and pecan. The finish is moderate, with honey graham cracker, candied orange peel and a little peppermint.
