Bellarine Crimson Rosella Single Malt Whisky (70cl)

Crimson Rosella is a non-peated Australian single malt from Bellarine Distillery, released in its Rare Series in a run of 458 bottles. The whisky first matured in an American oak cask that had held Heathcote Shiraz from Peregrine Ridge Winery, and before that a barrel-aged gin made with Turkish apricot and black lime. It was then blended with 30% ex-bourbon matured whisky and returned to refill wine casks for final maturation. The nose brings dried apricots, prune, citrus peel, toasted oak and beeswax. On the palate come red jelly frogs, custard tart, frangipane and sticky toffee pudding, and the finish is long and warming, with dried fruit and syrupy cake sweetness.
