Ben Nevis – 10 Year Old 2014 SMWS 78.90 Tempura Gateau Train Ride 1st Fill Oloroso Hogshead Finish (70cl)

This Ben Nevis is a Highland single malt, distilled in 2014 and bottled at ten years old by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as one of 192 bottles from a single cask. It spent its first four years in an ex-bourbon hogshead before moving to a first fill oloroso hogshead for the rest of its maturation. The nose is described as cold-brew coffee, leather, sultanas, cassia and Turkish delight. On the palate come stewed exotic fruits, chewing tobacco, dates and black forest gateau with singed raisins. With water, calligraphy ink, bramble jelly, enoki mushroom tempura, treacle tart, fudge and ginger appear.
