BenRiach The Smoky Twelve is a peated 12 year old Speyside single malt in a 75cl bottle at 46% vol. It is made by marrying unpeated and peated BenRiach spirit, from the distillery founded in 1898 by John Duff.
The whisky is matured across three cask types: ex-bourbon barrels, sherry casks and Marsala wine casks. It comes in an embossed bottle inside a lavender presentation tube.
The nose combines smoked vanilla, charred orange and toasted almond with ripe orchard fruit. The palate is creamy, with dark chocolate, fruit peel, brown sugar, honeycomb and apricot over smoked oak. The finish is long, with cocoa, candied orange, malt sweetness and a last wisp of sweet peat smoke.
