BenRiach The Twelve is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from the BenRiach Distillery in Elgin, Morayshire, established in 1898 by John Duff. It is part of the core range relaunched from 2020 and was created by Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie.
The whisky is matured for at least twelve years in ex sherry casks, ex bourbon barrels and ex port casks, with the three parcels blended together. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle, non-chill-filtered and in its natural cask colour.
The nose offers maple honey, cocoa, baked forest fruit and sultana. The palate is smooth and sherry rich, with maraschino cherry, baked orange, hazelnut and raisins. The finish is long, with spiced mocha, white pepper and a soft coffee close.
