This is Benromach 10 Years, a single malt from the Benromach distillery, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV.
A sherry finish is part of its make-up, and it shows in the notes: prunes and maple syrup on the nose alongside dry malt, oak and dry pine. Barley, a slight grassiness and ground ginger come through on the palate.
The finish is bittersweet, with ginger and dry sherry, and turns almost hoppy after a while.
