Benromach – 11 Year Old Contrasts: Port Cask Finish

This Benromach is an 11 year old Speyside single malt, distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2016. It spent its first years in first-fill bourbon casks in the dunnage warehouses at Forres, then was finished for more than two years in port casks. Each cask was weighed individually and labelled by hand. On the nose there are red berries and ripe tangerine. The palate brings bright woodland fruits, the caramel sweetness of demerara sugar and cocoa powder. The finish is long, with a restrained trace of smoke.
