Benromach 15 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from Forres, in the west of Speyside. The distillery belongs to the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail, which bought it in 1993 and set out to bring back the lightly peated, earthy style of Speyside whisky made before the 1960s.
It has a dark amber colour. The nose is toffee and caramel with forest fruits, baked cherry tart and dried banana, plus cracked black pepper and soft barbecue smoke. The palate is creamy and rounded, opening with ripe apple, stewed plum and honeyed fudge, then moving to orange peel, charred oak and toasted malt.
