Benromach – 1982/2022 39 Year Old Cask #3024410 Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection (70cl, 60.1%)

This is a 39-year-old Speyside single malt from Benromach, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection. It comes from a single cask, number 3024410, distilled on 30 November 1982 and bottled in 2022 at 60.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Almost four decades in the cask gave the whisky a deep mahogany colour. It was bottled without added colouring and without chill-filtration, and 202 bottles were filled. The nose combines strawberry jam and ripe blackberries with violets, aniseed and fine spice. On the palate come cherry cake, sugared orange peel, creamy toffee and rock sugar, alongside present but graceful oak spice. The finish is long, with red fruit, spice and ripe oak.
