Benromach 20 Year Old is a 20th Anniversary Bottling of Speyside single malt. It was matured in first fill oak casks, which gave it a deep amber colour.
Neat, the nose brings fruit cake, demerara sugar and vanilla, with citrus, dark chocolate and a touch of warm spice. On the palate, stewed raisin and apple sit alongside dark chocolate, followed by orange zest, toffee, ginger and liquorice, and charred oak lingers on the finish.
With a few drops of water, the nose turns to vanilla, ripe pear, melon and summer berries. The palate shows sherry influences and baked plum, ending with a light touch of smoke.
