Benromach – 2003/2025 First Fill Bourbon and Sherry Casks 22 Years (70cl, 55%)

A 22-year-old Benromach, distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2025 for the Wu Dram Clan at 55% ABV. 1,067 bottles were drawn from first fill bourbon and sherry casks. The Wu Dram Clan set out to choose a single cask at Benromach in Forres, and ended up with four: two sherry casks and two bourbon barrels. The sherry casks gave creamy, deep, slightly mineral notes. The bourbon barrels brought mango, papaya and coconut, along with a clear smoky side and a fine salty depth. The result combines tropical fruit, dark nutty sherry tones, mineral freshness and smoky elegance. It is the first bottling of its kind between Benromach and an independent bottler.
