Benromach 21 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the distillery at Forres in Moray, bottled at 43% vol. It was matured in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks and has a natural colour.
Benromach was founded in 1898 and bought by Gordon & MacPhail in 1993. After a five-year restoration it reopened in 1998, opened by King Charles III, then Prince of Wales.
The nose combines sweet sherry, roasted almonds and red apple, with ginger, oak and a hint of wood smoke. The palate is creamy, with honeycomb, toffee and black pepper, then Seville orange, raspberry and Medjool dates. The finish is long, with charred oak, roasted chestnuts and soft peat smoke.
