Benromach – 25 Years Old (70cl, 46%)

This is a 25 year old single malt from Benromach, the distillery at Forres on the northern edge of Speyside. It sits at the top of the Benromach core range, above the 12, 15 and 21 Years Old. It was matured only in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. The bourbon casks are American oak, while the sherry casks are European oak seasoned with sherry from Jerez. It is bottled at 46%, with natural colour and no chill filtration. The distillery describes it as rich and very well balanced, with its signature hint of smoke.
