First-fill Burgundy cask
This is a 39-year-old Benromach from a single first-fill Burgundy cask, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection. The whisky was distilled on 30 November 1982 and bottled in 2022 at a natural cask strength of 60.1%, filling 202 bottles. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colouring. Benromach closed in 1983, when this whisky was already in the cask. Gordon & MacPhail took over the distillery a decade later, and it reopened in 1998. The nose offers strawberry jam, blackberries, creamy toffee, violets, candied lemon and aniseed pastry. The palate is balanced and full, with sugared orange peel, cherry cake, rock sugar, cream and caramel, and oak spice for structure. The finish is long, with red fruit and fine wood spice.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
