Benromach – Contrasts: Double Matured 12 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Benromach, part of the Contrasts series, which explores styles outside the distillery's usual range. It was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2023 at 46% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It matured in a first fill bourbon cask and was finished in a Bordeaux wine cask. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. Benromach is in Forres, where a small team has distilled since 1998. It works with Highland peat, brewers yeast, very long fermentations and first fill casks only, in a traditional dunnage warehouse.
