Benromach – Contrasts: High Enzyme 2012/2024 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels (70cl, 46%)

Benromach Contrasts: High Enzyme is a 12 year old Speyside single malt, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2024 at 46%. It was matured entirely in first-fill bourbon barrels. This limited Contrasts release is made from unpeated, high-enzyme barley, a type more often used for grain whisky and different from the raw material of the distillery's regular malts. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose offers lemon sweets, malted barley, green apple and jasmine. The palate is sweet and creamy, with pink grapefruit, lime and pineapple, followed by honeycomb and peppery spice. The finish is fresh, with charred oak and peppermint.
