Benromach – Contrasts: Kiln Dried Oak 2012 (70cl, 46%)

This Speyside single malt is part of the Contrasts series from Benromach. It was distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2023 at 46% ABV, without chill-filtration, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a virgin oak cask that had been kiln dried, a method that gives a different character from a cask dried in the open air. It is a limited edition. The nose offers sweet malt biscuits, lemon and apple. The palate is creamy and fruity, followed by barley, sugar and a mix of tropical fruit. The finish carries subtle touches of smoke and menthol.
