Benromach Contrasts: Unpeated 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from Benromach Distillery's Contrasts series. It departs from the distillery's usual lightly smoky style, as it is distilled from 100% unpeated malted barley.
The whisky matured for 12 years exclusively in first-fill sherry casks and is presented in a 70cl bottle. It is deep mahogany in colour, with a full body and a silky texture.
The nose has sherry, stewed raisins, dark chocolate, sweet orange peel, cinnamon and oak. The palate brings fruitcake, candied cherries, cloves, cocoa, toasted nuts and honeyed malt. The finish is long and sweet, with dried fruit, gentle oak tannins and winter spices.
