This is a Speyside single malt from Benromach, released as Batch 4 in the Origins series, which explores production variables. It was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2013 after maturing in first-fill Port pipes. The malt is mildly peated at 8ppm and bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is softly smoky and fruity, with tobacco, cherries, aniseed and strawberries. On the palate come strawberries, raspberries, pineapple and apple, with pepper and tobacco leaf. The finish is soft and smoky, with red fruits and gentle spice.
