This Benromach single cask was distilled in 2014 and bottled at 11 years old for the McMurray Malt Maniacs whisky club, in a 70cl bottle. It comes from a first-fill sherry hogshead and is presented at natural cask strength.
The distillery's lightly peated Speyside character meets the dark fruit and spice of the sherry wood. The colour is deep mahogany, and the texture is thick and oily.
The nose brings dark chocolate, dried figs and sticky dates, with leather, baking spices and a little earthy peat smoke. The finish is long and warming, with black pepper, roasted espresso beans, stewed dark fruit and gentle wood smoke.
