Berneroy Calvados XO (70cl)

Berneroy XO is a Normandy Calvados made from apples that are pressed, fermented with their natural yeast to a cider of about 6% and distilled in antique copper stills. It is the oldest in the Berneroy range and has spent a total of six years in oak, in line with the rules for XO. Only older oak casks are used, which keeps the apple character fresh and the cask influence discreet. In the glass it is dark gold with brownish tints. The nose offers cream caramel, citrus and warm spices. The palate is intense and complex, with baked apple, butter, nuts, a little cinnamon and light oak, followed by a long finish. It suits a quiet moment neat or over ice.
