This is an American straight rye from Bhakta, made from a mash of 95% rye and distilled in a single vintage, 2013. It is bottled at 53.8% ABV in a 75cl-sized 750ml bottle.
After maturation, the whiskey was given a secondary finish in Calvados casks, chosen from the stocks of Château Bhakta. The brand was founded by Raj Peter Bhakta, who earlier helped start the rye revival through WhistlePig and has returned to the spirit here.
It is described as bold, brash and spicy.
