Big Peat 2016 Vintage Old Particular 7 Years (50cl, 48.4%)

This is a 7-year-old blended malt from Douglas Laing's Big Peat range, bottled in the Old Particular series at 48.4% ABV in a 50cl bottle. It comes from a February 2016 vintage and was bottled in October 2023, drawn from a single refill hogshead that gave 525 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The tasting notes describe restrained tar and damp, warm earth, then burnt toast, ash and grilled meat, with some sweetness alongside soot and coal dust.
