Bivrost – Heimdallr (50cl, 50%)

Bivrost Heimdallr is a Norwegian single malt in a 50cl bottle at 50% ABV. It is the first release in the Aesirs Series, a collaboration with the Polish artist Hubert Wilczewski, whose illustration shows Heimdallr sounding the Gjallarhorn to announce the start of Ragnarok. Only 8,212 numbered bottles have been released. The whisky is between four and six years old. Most of it was matured in ex-rye casks and finished for one year in seasoned Amontillado sherry casks, with portions from bourbon casks and a small share aged in Amburana, a Brazilian teak. The nose brings spiced oak, dried fruit and a little rye warmth. On the palate come baking spices, dried cherries, soft caramel and light tropical notes, followed by warm oak, light tannins and a touch of sweetness.
