Black Bottle 10 Years Old (40%)

Black Bottle 10 Year Old is a Scotch blended whisky built around a high proportion of peated Islay malts, including the smoky Moine from Bunnahabhain. Unpeated malts and grains matured in ex-bourbon casks complete the blend, and it is bottled at 40% ABV. Some of the malt is matured in virgin oak, which adds vanilla and coconut. Some casks are charred medium to heavy until the wood cracks and blackens, caramelising its natural sugars. The nose is ripe, juicy pear over rich peat smoke and oak. On the palate, tart-sweet green apple cuts through biscuity caramel, in a full, structured style. The finish brings charred embers, deep dark smoke and a splash of sea salt.
