Black Bowmore 1964-2016 50 Year Old The Last Cask (70cl, 40.9%)

Black Bowmore 1964 50 Year Old Last Cask is an Islay single malt and the final bottling in the Black Bowmore 1964 series. Released by the distillery in 2016 at 40.9% natural strength, it filled just 159 bottles of 70cl from a single cask. That cask combined the last two Williams & Humbert Oloroso sherry casks filled at Bowmore in November 1964. Casks 3708 and 3714 were losing volume quickly, so in 2002 their contents were married in one cask, which was then forgotten until a stock check in 2014. The launch doubled as a retirement party for master distiller Eddie MacAffer, who started at the distillery in 1966.
