Black Velvet Canadian Whisky (75cl, 40%)

Black Velvet is a blended Canadian whisky in a 750ml PET plastic bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. It is made at the Black Velvet Distillery in Lethbridge, Alberta, from a mashbill of rye, barley and corn. Its distinguishing feature is the 'Blended at Birth' method, introduced by distiller Jack Napier in 1951, in which the component spirits are blended at the distillation stage rather than after ageing. The nose offers caramel and toffee with soft vanilla and a subtle medicinal note. On the palate there is caramel, coconut, rye spice and gentle pear and apple. The finish is gentle and sweet, with caramel and a trace of vanilla.
