This is Blackadder Raw Cask Black Snake, the Sixth Venom from Vat 4, a cask strength single malt Scotch whisky bottled in July 2024 at 61.2% ABV. It comes from a single cask finished in Oloroso sherry and is one of 415 bottles.
Black Snake belongs to Blackadder's Snake series, built on first-fill ex-bourbon casks finished in a sherry butt. Each release is called a Venom, and a mini-solera system means each edition carries traces of earlier ones.
The nose has ripe apples, pears and dried fruit with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied, with dark chocolate, roasted coffee and mild spices. The finish is long, with fruit, spice, toffee and gentle smokiness.
